A doctor died after he was shot twice early this morning in Lucknow.
Vinod Arya, a District Project Officer of the Family Welfare Department, was walking his dog in Vikasnagar Colony in central Lucknow when two men on a motorcycle fired five bullets at him. Two of those bullets hit Arya.
The District Project Officer is a newly-created post equivalent to the post of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Vinod Arya was in charge of all immunisation in Lucknow.
The police is trying to uncover the identity of his killers and possible motives for Arya's murder.
