Major fire breaks out in Pune, 300 evacuated

Pune: A big blaze engulfed top floors of a commercial complex on the Senaspati Bapat Road in Pune on Thursday evening, leading to evacuation of the occupants, fire brigade said.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire started at 4.30 pm in the building that houses four software companies including the Government Slum Rehabilitation office.

Twenty fire engines were rushed to the spot, 300 people were evacuated.

The fire was brought under control after two hours and no casualties were reported in the mishap, the officials added.

The cause of the fire on the fourth and fifth floors of the building which houses some IT offices, was not immediately known, officials said.
