New Delhi:
A major fire broke out in a footwear shop in the presence of customers in a buzzing south Delhi market on Saturday night gutting its three floors, fire brigade officials said.
However, no one was injured in the blaze which was reported from Kins Footwear in Sarojini Nagar market at around 8:30 pm.
The fire broke out on the first floor of the shop located near a Mother Dairy booth in the market which was full of Saturday crowd. A short circuit was suspected to be the reason behind the blaze.
As the fire began spreading, the customers were evacuated from the shop, officials said.
"The fire spread to the ground floor and the second floor. All the people present there were evacuated. No one of them suffered injuries," they said.
Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
Police said they were ascertaining the value of goods lost in the fire.
