Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: A 34-year-old man allegedly chopped off his wife's hair and nose over dowry in Puranpur town of Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district this morning, police said.
The incident took place at Ahmadpur locality when Alam cut off his wife Rubina's hair and nose with a pair of scissors for failing to meet his dowry demands, they said.
As per the woman, Alam was demanding Rs 20,000 cash and a motorcycle from her parents.
An FIR has been registered against the accused, who is absconding, and efforts are on to nab him, police said.
The victim has been admitted to a hospital and she is being treated, police said.
