A convict, who had jumped parole and had been re-arrested, on Wednesday allegedly committed suicide in the police-lock up here, police officials said.
"Mukesh Sukabhai Patel, a convict serving life term in a murder case, today committed suicide by hanging himself from ceiling," Local Crime Branch (LCB) Police Inspector K N Patel said.
Mukesh, a resident of Khamlau village in Jalalpur taluka of the district, was serving life sentence for the murder of his wife.
After getting parole (leave of absence from prison), he fled, and was absconding for long, police said. He had been caught on Tuesday night from the Vejalpur area.
