Jaipur:
A man who allegedly duped some people here of Rs 49 lakh on the pretext of getting their
wards admitted to prestigious management institutes in Mumbai was arrested and remanded to one day police custody.
The accused J S Rathore who was arrested yesterday was produced before a local court which remanded him to one day police custody, police said.
In August last year, parents of five children had lodged FIRs against five persons including Rathore, his two sons and two others.
The victims had approached the judiciary to intervene in the matter, alleging laxity on part of police in arresting the accused following which, senior police officials changed
the Investigation Officer of the case.
"I was promised admission for my son in Mumbai by Rathore and his accomplices. I paid Rs seven lakh as donation and in return was given a forged admission letter and other documents," J P Duwa, one of the complainants said.
"After we reached Mumbai for admission to the institute in June last year, Rathore informed us that we had been cheated by Shekhar and Sumit," he said.
