Man arrested for duping job aspirants

Hyderabad: Police on Tuesday arrested the Managing Director of Meckenzer Technologies Pvt Ltd of Bangalore for allegedly swindling huge amount of money from several job aspirants from different states under the pretext of providing them employment in MNCs.

Solmon Raj, alias Suraj, was picked up from Panjagutta here by the Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths when he was trying to trap new candidates in Hyderabad, Deputy Commissioner of Police PJ Victor said.

Mr Raj, a native of Mangalore, had completed BTech and MBA and worked as a HR executive for about two years in a MNC.

In 2007, he allegedly cheated 125 job aspirants in Bangalore and was arrested. Five NBWs are pending against him in Bangalore city, Mr Victor said.

According to police, the accused used to acquire data of job aspirants from different job websites and contact them over phone after introducing himself as HR manager of Accenture Services, among other companies, to lure them.

Mr Raj would ask the unsuspecting victims to deposit an amount ranging from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh towards job confirmation. He would then offer fake offer letters through his website once the money is received, Mr Victor said.

Mr Raj had allegedly cheated 18 job aspirants from Hyderabad in March after assuring them appointment in leading multinationals and issuing fake appointment letters, police said.

It was found during investigations that Raj had trapped more than 60 candidates since 2009 till May 2012 from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and duped them to the tune of nearly Rs 70 lakh.

The involvement of employees of Accenture Services at Gachibowli and Madhapur here is being probed, the DCP added.
