Raigarh:
Asking his drunk neighbour to behave cost a 52-year-old man his life while another person suffered injuries after the former, an unruly contractor, allegedly mowed them down with his SUV at Kharsiya town in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
"Santosh Agrawal died and Anil Kushwaha was injured when Anaar Babu, a tenant of their neighbour, mowed them down with his SUV in an intoxicated state after they asked him to stop creating the nuisance," Additional Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur told PTI.
The incident took place last night when the victims asked Babu to stop shouting, saying it was a residential area.
"However, an enraged Babu got into an argument with them and mowed them down with his vehicle," Mr Thakur said, adding the injured was admitted to Metro Hospital.
Anaar Babu is a tenant at the house of one Naresh Agrawal.
He has been staying there along with a transporter Vikas Patel and ten other labourers, police said.
While the accused has been arrested, police are searching for two of his accomplices who are suspected to be involved in the crime, the officer added.
