Man attacks fiancee, her parents after suspecting infidelity

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh: A man allegedly attacked his fiancee and her parents here on Sunday with a knife suspecting the young woman's fidelity, police said.

D Bharat Krishna, a private employee fell in love with a 24-year-old woman Farveen Sanam (studying MCom) and families of both agreed to their marriage after which their engagement was conducted in February this year and the marriage was scheduled on May 21, they said.

However, in the meanwhile, Bharat suspected about his fiancee's character and alleged that she was having an affair with another man, a police officer told PTI based on preliminary investigation.

"Bharat went to Farveen's house on Sunday evening and indulged in an argument with her to reveal the identity of the other man. He later asked her to accompany him and get married. But the girl refused and raised an alarm after which her parents and other family members came to her rescue. But Bharat attacked the girl and her parents with a knife," the police officer explained.

After the incident Bharat fled from the scene, the police officer said, adding the girl suffered injuries on her neck and hand while her parents suffered minor injuries and all of them are undergoing treatment at the Kakinada government hospital.

Kakinada III Town Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and trespass under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against Bharat and are investigating further.
