Sheikhpura: A man was beheaded by unidentified assailants in full public view in Bihar's Sheikhpura district on Thursday, a police officer said.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Santosh Kumar said the victim, identified as Sanjay Paswan and a Dalit, was killed near the bus stand near Mission Chowk while waiting to catch a vehicle for his native Onma village.
The assailants came on a motorcycle, stopped near the man and one of them took out a sickle and severed his head with it.
The assailants then sped away before the people on the road could react, Mr Kumar said.
Raids are on to nab the culprits, he said adding the motive behind the murder was not known.
The man's wife is posted in Gopalganj district as a constable in the district armed police (DAP), Mr Kumar said.
