Man dies in court after judge pronounced sentence

Hardoi: An elderly person today died inside the local court premises after he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment in connection with an assault case, officials said.

Tanlu (65) and his three family members were sentenced to three-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each was slapped on them by chief judicial magistrate Aradhana Rani in an assault case, they said.

After the judgement was pronounced, Tanlu suddenly complained of uneasiness and later died, sources said. Following the incident, a group of lawyers went on rampage and vandalised the court.

The lawyers did not allow police to take the body demanding that a case be registered against the judge.
