Chandigarh:
A man from Mohali near here has allegedly dumped his ailing wife after she gave birth to a girl child and left for Australia taking all her jewellery.
The woman named Monica, who is currently in Government Medical College Hospital here for gall bladder stone surgery, has appealed to the media to help in her fight for justice.
According to Monica, she was married to Vipan Sheel Pruti on January 19, 2008. "Just few weeks after marriage, Vipan and his family started treating me badly. They forced me to bring more dowry from my parents. I was badly beaten up and locked up in my room. I was not even allowed to meet my parents," she alleged.
Monica's parents got an FIR registered against the family as well as a neighbour Jaswant Gill who all allegedly beat up her on March 29, 2010.
