Rajkot:
A 21-year-old man was kidnapped and murdered allegedly by his two friends for a ransom of Rs 60 lakh, police said on Tuesday.
Nayan, son of Nagji Patel, a co-operative leader and associated with a political party, was kidnapped on October 2 from the city, they said.
Madhav Bhalsod and Mahesh Vekariya allegedly abducted Nayan and when he tried to escape, the duo beat him up severely, leading to his death, they said.
On Monday, the duo called up Nayan's father and demanded Rs 60 lakh for his release. Nagji Patel informed Police Commissioner Geetha Johri who directed the Crime Branch to investigate the case.
Crime Branch officials succeeded in arresting Bhalsod and Vekariya on Monday night, police said.
