Man lived for two days with father's dead body
Bhubaneswar: A heart broken man hid his father's dead body for two days in a room in Orissa and prayed to god to infuse life into it, police said Friday.

Debun Biswal, 35, a resident of Galupada village in the coastal district of Jagatsinghpur, about 100 km from Bhubaneswar, was upset after his 65-year-old father died Monday.

When his family members and relatives started making arrangements to cremate the body, Biswal interfered and did not allow it, a senior district police official said.

The man took the body to a room and locked it from inside. He prayed to god for hours, keeping incense sticks and earthen lamps burning in the hope that god would infuse life into his father's body.

The body was recovered and cremated Wednesday only after police rushed to the spot at the request of the villagers and used force.

Police detained Debun for a few hours.

"Debun kept the body because he was mentally disturbed as a result of the sad demise of his father," the official said.
