Coimbatore:
A middle-aged person was lynched by locals for allegedly attempting to steal coconuts from a vegetable market in neighbouring Tirupur district today, police said.
Traders of the market in Thennampalayam, who caught the unidentified man trying to steal coconuts, tied his hands and legs with rope and along with the public thrashed him, resulting in his instantaneous death, they said.
Police have not made any arrests in the case so far.
