Mysore: A father who forced his 12-year-old daughter to beg after she fared badly in exams was arrested and released in Mysore.
On Monday night, Prakash, a senior assistant lab technician forced his daughter to beg at a temple because he was upset with her.
The 12-year-old was found crying with a bowl in her hand at a temple when a social activist founder her and took her to get home.
Prakash was arrested and a case under the Juvenile Justice Act was registered against him. "My intention was to teach her the hardships of life," he reportedly told the police.
Prakash has been granted bail. The girl is now in the custody of Child Welfare Committee which has kept her in a juvenile home until she recovers from her trauma.
