New Delhi:
The Special Cell of Delhi police arrested a man in the Capital on Tuesday for allegedly making a hoax call on August 18 about explosives on board the Andhra Pradesh Express.
26-year-old Hemchandra Jha, who was working as a broker for a real estate firm, allegedly made the call, which delayed the train for hours causing panic. All this, to extract revenge from his ex-girlfriend.
"A call was received at New Delhi Police station about planting of explosives on Andhra Pradesh Express. Immediately a frisking team was deployed at the station and the train was checked properly. This caused a lot of panic and wasting of time. But no such explosives were found on the train," said a police officer.
The cops then started hunting for the culprit. And they traced the mobile number.
"During investigations it was revealed that the call was made from mobile number 9716371141 which was found to be switched off. We found another number which was functional after tracing down Hemchandra Jha," the officer added. Hemchandra was called for interrogation during which he revealed that he had met a girl named Anita but after a few days they had an argument and she left him.
"The accused revealed that he wanted to take revenge from Anita and he got to know that she was leaving Delhi on AP Express. He then made a hoax call of explosives on board the train after which he took out the SIM card of his phone, broke it up, and got a new number (9716854672). But he used the same cell phone and we arrested him," the officer added.
The officers found the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number and traced down the accused. Hemchandra has been produced in court and sent to judicial custody. An FIR has been lodged at the New Delhi police station.
