Jaunpur, UP: A man allegedly shot dead a four-year-old child and critically wounded his aunt for plucking mangoes from his field in Machchlishahr area of the district on Tuesday.
The victim Chandan and his aunt Divya Saroj plucked mangoes from the field owned by Lallan who fired at them in a fit of rage, police said.
Angry villagers then raided the house of the accused and set it ablaze before badly thrashing Lallan and two others, who had to be hospitalised.
A police team was deployed in the area, they said adding, the victim's aunt was recovering from her gunshot wounds.
