Nagpur:
A man was shot dead by his daughter's jilted lover in the Manwada Civil Road area of Nagpur on Wednesday. The accused, Anwar Khan, entered the house of Yogesh Dakhore and shot him with a country-made pistol. He then attacked Mr Dakhore's wife with a knife and an iron rod. While out of danger, she still is hospitalised.
Yogesh Dakhore was an Assistant Director at Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education. According to the police, his 24-year-old daughter was in a relationship with the accused which went sour. Mr Dakhore had lodged a police complaint earlier following which Khan had been warned against harassing the family.
Khan had entered the house by climbing to the terrace. After attacking Mr and Mrs Dakhore, he even threatened to kill their daughter. Meanwhile, neighbours gathered outside the house. A police team entered the house and arrested Khan after rescuing Dakhore's daughter.
"The officer on duty, who was nearby rushed to the place and saw that there was a crowd there. He learnt that someone was threatening and talking to people. He went to the first floor and saw that there was blood on the floor and a body lying there. The victim's wife was lying by his side and she gestured to the officer that the accused had taken the girl to the top floor. Later on the girl was rescued by the police," a police officer said.
A court has sent Khan to police custody till April 8.
