A former village head, who was facing several criminal charges including a murder, has been shot dead following a clash with his rival villagers at Shahjahanpur in Ghirore area.
The former Gram Pradhan of Shahjahanpur, Brijendra Singh Yadav alias Pappu, who had left the village due to some enmity and was living elsewhere, was shot dead when he went to his village on Thursday, police said.
He had a verbal duel with his rivals following which the opposite party fired bullets at him, injuring him seriously
He succumbed to injuries while he was being taken to a hospital in Agra.
Pappu was a history-sheeter and was facing several criminal charges including of murder, Superintendent of Police Shalabh Mathur said.
The deceased's son has lodged an FIR against four villagers, but no one has been arrested so far.
