New Delhi:
An unidentified man snatched a knife from his attacker and stabbed him to death when the latter tried to run away with his mobile phone outside a Metro station in the national capital on Thursday afternoon, sources said.
The incident took place outside Kirti Nagar Metro station at around 4 pm when the unidentified man came out and the deceased snatcher has been identified as Chitu (25), a resident of Katputli colony in Moti Nagar.
Chitu allegedly attacked the unidentified person and threatened him at knife-point and tried to snatch his mobile, sources said.
"He held the man on knife-point and asked him to hand over his mobile and belongings. The man then turned around, snatched the knife from Chitu and stabbed him on his chest. He then fled from the spot," a senior police official said.
A pedestrian informed police who took Chitu to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police sources said they are close to identifying the accused and statements of eyewitnesses were recorded.
Though eye-witnesses said two more persons were with Chitu, police denied it.
Police suspect that the accused went back to the Metro station after stabbing Chitu and took another train to escape.
