Bhandara, Maharashtra:
A 23-year-old man who raped and strangled an 11-year-old girl surrendered here on Sunday, police said.
"Ankush Gajabiye and the victim belonged to Dhoshali village. On Saturday, Gajabiye took her to another village close by and raped her in a shack. He then strangled her with a rope," a police officer said.
"He then lit a fire and burned the corpse," he added.
Ankush surrendered before the police on Sunday.
"We are yet to figure whether the girl was alive before she was burnt. We have sent her body for post-mortem," the police officer said.
Dhoshali village is around 30 km from the district headquarters of Bhandara.
"Ankush Gajabiye and the victim belonged to Dhoshali village. On Saturday, Gajabiye took her to another village close by and raped her in a shack. He then strangled her with a rope," a police officer said.

Ankush surrendered before the police on Sunday.
"We are yet to figure whether the girl was alive before she was burnt. We have sent her body for post-mortem," the police officer said.
Dhoshali village is around 30 km from the district headquarters of Bhandara.
