Hyderabad:
In a gruesome incident, a woman suffered severe burn injuries after her husband threw acid on her suspecting her character, in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh today.
The couple's 15-year-old daughter too suffered injuries as some acid fell on her, police said.
The incident occurred at Thurpgannavaram village under Thallur police station jurisdiction this afternoon when the accused Sheikh Allabaksh, a chef, allegedly threw acid on his wife Sheikh Mehrabi. Daughter Shaina too suffered injuries, police said.
Allabaksh, who is an alcoholic, suspected his wife's fidelity, said KSSV Subbareddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
"The woman and her daughter were sleeping when the incident occurred," he said.
Sheikh Mehrabi's condition was critical, he said. She has been admitted to a hospital in Guntur.
Police are looking for Allabaksh who is missing.
