Mangalore: Customs officers at the international airport here have seized gold worth Rs 13.71 lakh from two passengers, official sources said.
In the first case, the officials seized two gold wires weighing 233.550 grams concealed in the form of beadings around a brown coloured suitcase.
The baggage belonged to a man hailing from Kerala's Kasaragod district who had arrived in Mangalore from Dubai yesterday, they said.
In the second incident, officers seized a gold strip concealed in a measuring tape and 44 gold buckles hidden in footwear from a resident of Kumble in Kasaragod district.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore international airport, the sources said.
