Ahmedabad: A married man paid with his life for his alleged interest in his friend's sister. The incident came to light after an injured Manoj Desai, who had been kidnapped last Wednesday, was admitted to Shalby Hospital. Desai, a resident of Sheshnagar Society near Vastrapur railway station, succumbed to his injuries on October 15 (Friday).
The love angle to the kidnap and murder came to light after Satellite police arrested five accused in connection with the killing of the 20-year-old. The arrested have been identified as Kulesh Rabari, Kalpesh Rabari, Mahesh Rabari, Dinesh Rabari and Shailesh Rabari. One Dinesh Rabari is still absconding.
"Manoj and the six accused had been friends for many years. However, their relation soured when they came to know that Manoj, who was married, was trying to seduce their sister," said VR Toliya, assistant commissioner of police, division-A. He said they decided to get rid of him. "On Wednesday, Kulesh Rabari called up Manoj and asked him to join them in a garba programme. Once the garba was over, they took him to Vayana village in Kalol in a car and he was brutally beaten," he said. Then Alpesh Rabari took him to Shalby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
'We can sacrifice our life for a friend, and can take one if betrayed. He was already married yet eyeing our sister so he paid the price,' one of the accused told the Satellite police.
