A 32-year-old married woman was allegedly killed by her lover at a work site in Rajasthan's Jalore district, police said Monday.
The incident took place at MGNREGA site in the Thanwala area that falls under Ahore police station area when Shanti Devi was working.
Ganesharam (22) reached the site and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, leaving her dead on the spot, they said, adding that he then clung to her body after that.
Police rushed to the spot, separated him from the body and took him into custody.
After the postmortem, the body was handed over to her family members.
A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
The dead woman, whose husband works in Maharashtra, was the mother of two sons.
According to primary inquiry, Ganesharam wanted to have a relationship with her but she turned down his proposal, police said.
