Mathura:
A man, allegedly part of gang involved in stealing cattle, was beaten to death by villagers after he was caught trying to steal buffaloes, police said yesterday.
Four cattle-lifters were trying to steal the buffaloes of Karan Singh in Shahadpur village late last evening when four women spotted them and tried to nab them, they said.
Three of them fled but the women managed to catch hold of the fourth man, who attempted firing at the women but was overpowered by other villagers who reached the spot by then, according to the FIR.
Salim was later beaten and then handed over to police, FIR filed by Karan Singh said.
He was rushed to hospital by police where doctors declared him dead.
