Mathura: A woman who had allegedly kidnapped three minor children of a family on a pilgrimage to Kaliyar Dargah in Roorkee has been arrested, police said today.
The accused Lila (45) who hails from Andheri area of Mumbai, runs a racket where she and her associate kidnap and force children to beg in Mumbai, police said.
"The children have been found and the woman, instrumental for kidnapping has been arrested. A group of lady constables have been sent to interrogate her. Efforts are on to nab the associate of the woman who is absconding," said Wazhi Ahemad, Superintendent of police, Railways.
"Children after basic training are forced to beg and hand over the collected money. Out of the collected money, they are given some part so that they can arrange their food," he added.
She went to Kosi Khurd village along with the kidnapped children yesterday late evening. But the villagers grew doubtful and informed Magorra police who took her in, said Nasim Chaudhary, Deputy superintendent of Police.
The children Raj (5), Sana (2) and Saba (3) are with their parents now and interrogation of the woman is going on, the police said.
Lila had kidnapped the children after befriending them at Mathura railway junction on Saturday night, they said.
