Mau (Uttar Pradesh):
Two local criminals were killed in the fierce gun battle with the police in Chiraiyakot, 45 km from Mau, in Uttar Pradesh.
Around 25-25 policemen had cornered the criminals inside a house. The criminals had taken five people hostage inside the house; one of them was killed in the encounter.
The Station Officer of Kotwali police station, Govind Singh, was also killed in the crossfire while a jawan was injured.
