An MBA student, who left his job of a Sales Manager in a local bank to start his own company which suffered financial losses, took hostage of two school children in Gurgaon on Tuesday demanding ransom but was arrested by the police within a few hours.
An eight-year-old boy and a girl aged six were going to school along with their mother in an ambassador car when they were kidnapped allegedly by Sachin Bhardwaj in Sector 52 of the city, Police Commissioner S S Deswal said.
The mother was later dropped after some distance, he said, adding kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the family.
According to Deswal, the police swung into action and cordoned off the area after being informed by a passerby about the incident.
Both the children were rescued near Kapashera along Delhi-Gurgaon border and a person named Sachin Bhardwaj was arrested. Deswal said Bhardwaj is an MBA from Kurukshetra University. Both the children are safe and handed over to their parents, he said.
The accused served as Sales Manager in home loan branch of City Bank, but in February last year he left his job to start his own company which suffered financial losses, the Commissioner said.
According to the police, the accused came to know about father of the children at the bank.
Deswal said there was a possibility of involvement of more persons in the incident and inquiry was on into the matter.
