Midnapore, West Bengal: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 55-year-old man at Belda in West Midnapore district on Friday.
Police said that the accused, Bistupada Singh, has been arrested while the victim has been taken to the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.
According to the complaint by the girl's family, the accused took the unsuspecting child to a deserted place where he committed the crime.
The family learnt about the alleged crime when the girl returned home.
The girl is being medically examined, police said, adding that she has unexplained marks on her body that suggest violence.
