Udhagamandalam:
The toll in Monday's accident when a mini bus plunged into a 200 foot gorge near Kothagiri, 50 kilometres from Udhagamandalam, has risen to seven with two more persons succumbing to injuries in hospital on Tuesday, police said.
Five persons died on Monday at Kothagiri, 50 kilometres from Udhagamandalam and 30 injured in the mishap. Nineteen persons are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Meanwhile the mini bus driver, fearing the wrath of the public surrendered before a police station at Coonoor and was arrested on charges on negligence and rash driving, police said.
The man was reportedly talking to someone over his cellphone when the accident occurred, they said.
