Kolkata: A Class 6 student in West Bengal's Birbhum district was allegedly gang-raped by three students of her school on Thursday.
The police have arrested two of the accused in the case. The third accused is on the run.
"I had gone to play, three young boys took me with them near the pond... their faces were covered with cloth.... They raped me near the pond," the 13-year-old girl alleged.
There are reports that the father of the girl had approached an unofficial village court, but was allegedly "dissatisfied" with its order.
The police is investigating the role of the village headman, who is also missing.
They say they will arrest him if the investigation confirms he tried to prevent the filing of a First Information Report or FIR.
