A young woman in Siliguri in West Bengal has committed suicide after a college senior circulated an intimate MMS of the two of them. Before taking this extreme step, she had gone to police and threatened to commit suicide if the man was not arrested, but the police were unable to locate him, by which time, it was too late.
In the FIR she had said: "I find it difficult to go on living now and if no steps are taken against him, I will have no option but to commit suicide."
"Her mother had filed a complaint that the boy had molested her and taken some photographs in compromising positions," said Gaurav Sharma, Additional SP, Siliguri.
The police have now arrested the man who allegedly made the video clip and circulated it. He was produced in the court today.
"We want the boy to be punished. Such an incident should not happen with anyone else," said the victim's father.
The police deny that the girl killed herself because of their failure to catch the boy. They say the girl killed herself because she was worried about condemnation from her family, after they found out about the MMS just a few days ago.
