Ghazipur: A police post was set ablaze by angry locals in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh this morning after a man allegedly died there while in custody.
The victim, Ghanshyam, was picked up by the police in connection with a case of a couple that had gone missing. The locals allege that the man was mercilessly beaten by the police during interrogation.
His relatives said he succumbed to his injuries later.
Upon hearing about his death, an angry mob blocked the road opposite the police post demanding action against the cops. During the protests, they attacked policemen and burned down some of their vehicles.
The post-mortem report of the victim is awaited.
