Phagwara: A case was registered against a woman and others for allegedly forcing her 14-year-old daughter into prostitution, police said today.
The girl claimed she had been repeatedly raped over the past several months after her mother forced her into flesh trade.
City SHO Amrik Singh Chahal said Dimple Sethi, Rani and others have been booked for rape and selling a minor for prostitution.
The incident came to light when the girl was rescued by a local Congress leader as she was being harassed by a youth at Mansa Devi Nagar area on Phagwara-Plahi road.
On closer enquiry it was found that the youth had been sent by her mother to bring her home against her wishes.
With the assistance of a local women help group, which claimed the girl has named several prominent persons of the area of sexually exploiting her, the girl is being rehabilitated.
Medical examination of the victim is yet to be done.
