Thiruvananthapuram : Veteran filmmaker Mrinal Sen will be honoured at the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) for outstanding contribution to cinema.
State Minister for Culture and Education M A Baby said that a retrospective of Sen's seven films will be the highlights of the film festival.
The award would be presented to the veteran film-maker at the inaugural function of the festival beginning here on December 11.
The award will carry cash prize of Rs three lakh and citation.
Veteran Malayalam actor Madhu, the chairman of the award jury committee, said Sen had been chosen in recognition of his contribution to the world of cinema.
This is the first time that IFFK is introducing an award for outstanding contribution to cinema.
