Mumbai: 18-month-old boy survives 3-storey fall without a scratch
Mumbai: An 18-month-old boy had a providential escape after hurtling down to the ground from the third floor of an apartment in Ghatkopar yesterday.

Gaurav Jadhav, who was admitted to the ICU of Sapna Nursing Home in the area, escaped without a scratch, said doctors.

Gaurav's father, Harish, said the incident occurred at 1.30 pm at their home in BEST colony, Ghatkopar (East).

Gaurav's mother, Sunanda, was putting clothes out to dry in the balcony when he climbed onto a nearby chair, lost his balance and fell out.

A panic-stricken Sunanda saw her son hurtle down three floors and land in the compound with a thud.

She and her neighbours rushed Gaurav to the nursing home immediately where doctors declared him fit after several examinations.

The happy parents attributed their son's miraculous escape to divine intervention.

"Maa Durga saved my son. We thanked the goddess after hearing that Gaurav was safe," said Harish, who works in a cargo-clearing unit in Panvel. Gaurav is the younger of the couple's two sons.

The Pantnagar police visited the spot and the hospital and recorded the parents' statements.

The family said it is looking forward to a happy, incident-free festival season ahead.
