Mumbai man arrested for raping 11-year-old daughter
Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a man was arrested for raping his 11-year-old daughter at Pleasant Park in Mira Road. 48-year-old Ganesh Thewar raped his daughter under the influence of alcohol.

On Friday afternoon, Thewar reached his house drunk. His wife was not home. He then asked his 17-year-old son to bring him soda from a shop nearby. Once alone with his daughter, he raped her.

According to his son, "When I came back, my father didn't open the door for half an hour. When he opened the door, I saw my sister crying. She was scared of talking to me in front of my father. So, I took her downstairs.

"There, she said that her stomach was hurting because dad had done 'wrong things' with her."

The son called his mother, and they took the girl to the hospital in the evening. The doctor confirmed that she had been raped. "My mother came home and started fighting with my father. He reacted by breaking the television set on his head," the son added.

With help from society members, the mother and son nabbed Thewar and handed him over to the police. A case of raping a minor was registered against him at Mira Road police station.

The girl was sent to hospital for a medical check-up on Saturday. The accused was produced at the Thane court where he was sent to police custody. Officials at Mira Road police station refused to comment.
