Mumbai: Man attacks 20-yr-old girl with razor

Mumbai: A 25-year-old man stabbed a 20-year-old girl with a razor outside the railway ticket booking office at Kurla station on Monday night.

Sub-inspector Laxman Wakde of Wadala railway police station informed that the victim had been identified as Sabina Sheikha of Kurla (East) and she had sustained nine stab injuries.

The accused whipped out a razor and stabbed her on her thighs, head, hands and chest. The police has registered a case under sections 307 (attempt to commit murder), 114 (abettor present when the offence is committed) and 120B (conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The authorities have launched a manhunt to nab the accused Sayyed Ali Sheikh and Kamaluddin Mallick.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Kamaluddin, a resident of Kurla (East), had an affair with Sabina for the past four years and wanted to marry her. However, he suspected that she had an affair with another boy. Accordingly, he gave a contract to Sayyed Ali to eliminate her.

The incident occurred around 11.10 pm. Sayyed Ali called Sabina on her mobile and told her that he wanted to meet her to give her money, outside the railway booking office at Kurla (East). Sabina arrived at the spot. There, Sayyed abused her and threatened her with dire consequences and stabbed her with a razor. Passers-by rushed to the spot but Sayyed managed to escape.

Sabina was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in an unconscious condition by the police. She gained consciousness around 10am on Tuesday, said Wakde and added that they are yet to record her statement.

The victim also lodged a non-cognisable complaint against Sayyed at Nehru Nagar police station on Monday evening, for allegedly threatening her to leave Kamaluddin Mallick as well as abusing her near the BEST depot at Kurla (East) around 4pm, added Wakde.
