Mumbai:
US President Barack Obama's visit to Mumbai is instilling a sense of extreme thrill and excitement for the satellite city. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Manse Muslim Sanskrutik Sena (MMSS) is in talks with the American Embassy of gifting the President with a book that depicts his own life journey.
Written in Marathi the book 'Yes We Can' charts out the milestones the President has surpassed prior to his taking the oath of office.
Two years to its publication, the book is considered to be first to have been written on the President in Marathi. In view of this significant occasion, the organization deems gifting of the book as the best possible way to welcome the President. "The book written by Raja Kandalkar received wide publicity across the state for it was the first book to be written on President Obama in Marathi. Since he will be in Mumbai, gifting a book written in the state's language will mark the importance of the visit," MNS general secretary Haji Shahnawaz Khan said.
A delegate of Muslims is also expected to visit the President and express their gratitude to him for altering the general perception of Muslims being anti-social elements. The President's Muslim lineage is being considered to have brought this alteration in addition to his policies that have benefitted the community at large. "The entire Muslim community is highly honoured to have a President with Muslim roots. It has altered the wrong notion world nurtured towards the community.
While gifting the book, we plan to thank the President for his contribution towards the betterment of the community," Khan said. 'Yes We Can', the book title taken from the historical speech given by Obama after his victory, depicts his family lineage, education, entry into politics and his marital life.
The 150-page book also gives the readers an insight into the actual politics behind suggesting an African American for the post of the President. "President of America is considered to be most coveted post in the entire world. There is a deep meaning towards putting Obama into this spot that has its base rooted to securing acceptance with the dark and brown skinned population. This too has been spoken in depth in the book. It will be a unique gift for the President," said the writer Kandalkar.
