Mumbai:
In a miraculous escape, a 17-year-old student in Mumbai fell down from the third floor of a college in Bandra but survived with minor injuries, thanks to a tree in the premises of the institute.
Student of Rizvi college, Ikra Pathan, came to R D National College for admission on Saturday and went to the third floor. As the floor was wet, she slipped and fell from the window.
"She fell on a jackfruit tree inside the premises of the National College. In an attempt to save herself, she tried to catch the branches of the tree but in vain. Because of the tree branches, she hit the ground with a lesser speed, resulting in minor injuries to her," said Valmiki Kale, inspector at Khar Police Station.
"She fell from the height of 45 feet. She would have died if the tree was not there," he added.
Ikra was rushed to nearby Holy Family hospital where she was treated for injuries on her head, neck and hands. "We have taken note of the incident. There is no foul play," the officer added.
