Muzaffarpur, Bihar:
A minor girl was allegedly raped by a constable at Ahiapur police station which sparked off tension in Muzaffarpur on Friday with the local people gheraoing the police station and fought pitched battle with the policemen.
The 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the constable, identified as Kapil Dev Paswan two days ago in the police station after she had lost her way while going to visit her maternal grandmother's house, police sources said.
The victim narrated the incident to the family members who lodged an FIR against the accused charging him with raping the minor girl, the sources said.
Senior officials held an identification parade at the Ahiyapur police station where the girl identified the accused, they said.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sunil Kumar said on phone from Muzaffarpur that the victim was taken to the Sri Krishna Memorial Hospital (SKMH) for medical check up and its report was being awaited.
Strict action will be taken against the accused cop if the charges were be to be found true, he said.
Meanwhile, the angry local police gheraoed Ahiyapur police station premises to protest against the alleged rape of the minor girl and also pelted stones on the policemen.
The cops fired teargas shells to disperse the mob, the sources said.
