Delhi:
A 23 -year-old woman constable fell in love with Lalit Kumar, a train operator with the Delhi Metro.
But after a relationship of two years, she claims she was dumped by Lalit as 'she didn't look good anymore'.
She says after several months the realisation dawned that Lalit had used her for sex and had no intentions of marrying her. She wanted payback. So Preeti decided to complain against Lalit.
"We were together for over two years. Back then, Lalit was working in a mobile centre in Connaught Place and I visited him to repair my handset. We became friends and after a few days he proposed to me. We decided to get married. Lalit often visited my place; he wrote several letters to me mentioning that come what may he was going to marry me," the woman alleged.
"His family members were against our relationship as we belong to different castes. But Lalit said he would fight for me and will marry me. But last year he was selected by Delhi Metro as a train operator. After that he started behaving differently. He wanted a car as dowry which I refused. And then day by day he started ignoring me," she added.
The woman says she tried to woo back her love but Lalit allegedly was unmoved and finally left her, saying she did not looking pretty anymore and he wouldn't marry her.
"Lalit dumped me saying that I don't look good now and told me to forget about our relations. I tried to stop him at first; I tried convincing him but he didn't budge. I cried in front of him; I asked what my fault was but he didn't melt. He just wanted to get rid of me. Finally I realised that I was being stupid; Lalit had used me to fulfill his sexual needs promising to get married," she added.
She then decided to get back at Lalit and filed a complaint of sexual harassment against her ex- boyfriend at the Vasant Vihar police station in south Delhi.
"He will have to pay; how anyone can ruin my life like this? I trusted him so much and that's why we had such a relationship. But I am not a coward and I am not like the other girls who forgive such guys. I have filed a written complaint of sexual harassment against him and I will teach him a lesson. I will show him the power of an innocent girl," she said.
According to her, Lalit ditched her because he had got a government job and a handsome salary. He wanted a large amount as dowry.
"Before his job in Delhi Metro he was very faithful to me. But after getting the job he changed. He realised that if he dumps me he will probably get a better offer for marriage and more dowry. So he decided to dump me," she added.
The police say they are investigating the case.
"We have received a complaint against Lalit Kumar. If we discover any foul play, we will take appropriate action against him," said a police officer.
After the complaint was filed, the woman says Lalit made an offer to get married but with an extraordinary demand.
"When I complained about him, he called me up and said that I will marry you if you want but only if you promise that you'll divorce me 2 months after marriage. He said that I don't love him as whoever loves someone doesn't seek revenge. One of his friends called me up and threatened me saying I must retract my complaint," she said.
When contact, Lalit Kumar said, "I have done nothing wrong with her. She is threatening me that she'll commit suicide if I don't marry her".
