Mystery shrouds 17-year-old's death in Mumbai

Mumbai: The mysterious death of a 17-year-old girl in Mumbai has left the cops puzzled. The girl's parents allege that she would have been alive had the police taken timely action.

The police said Sushma Pandey went missing on Saturday and was brought home in a drowsy state two days later by the owner of the factory where she used to work.

The family alleged that they got a call from the owner Sunil Sharma who told them that Sushma had contacted him and asked to be picked up from Ghatkopar.

Her father, Anil Pandey said Sushma had several injuries on her body when she returned and was wearing different clothes. They took her to Rajawadi Hospital but she was declared dead on admission.

The parents alleged that Sunil had raped their daughter. "Sunil Sharma is behind the crime and the police is supporting him. She told us she had been drugged," said Pandey.

Samadhan Dhanekar, senior police inspector, Sakinaka police station, said, "Sharma has given a statement that he saw Sushma's parents killing her, so they could be behind the crime." At 12.30 am, the police detained Sushma's mother and father along with Sunil and were awaiting the post-mortem results.
