Nagpur: Railway engineer, trolley man held for taking bribe

Nagpur: A senior railway engineer and a trolley man were caught while they were allegedly accepting Rs 11,500 bribe from a complainant, anti-corruption division of CBI said today.

The accused, Ravindra Vitthalrao Gulhane, senior sectional engineer with Central Railway had allegedly demanded bribe from one Rashtrapal Tagde of Hiwari Nagar for releasing log books of November and December last year and of January this year, the ACB said.

On February 28, Tagde lodged a complaint about this with the ACB, CBI.

The ACB sleuths laid a trap yesterday, where trolley man Ashok Sur was deputed by Gulhane to hand over the log book and collect the bribe amount from the complainant, and arrested the duo.

They were booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, a CBI release issued last night said.

Both were later produced before a local court which remanded them in four-day police custody, the release added.
