Nalgonda:
A police constable allegedly shot dead his senior with his service rifle after an altercation at Nalgonda town of Andhra Pradesh this evening, police said.
The incident occurred in the Andhra Pradesh Special Police's (APSP) 12th battalion premises at Anaparthi near Nalgonda town at around 7 pm, when the constable Veeresham fired at least three rounds on Head Constable Ch V Narayana killing him on the spot, Nalgonda district Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said.
"As per preliminary information, the accused (Veeresham) seems to have had a quarrel with the Head Constable. Veeresham was also a bit depressed for some time as he was facing harassment case lodged by his wife," the SP said, adding that Veeresham fled the scene after the incident.
According to sources, Veeresham bore a personal grudge against Narayana as the latter allegedly had an "illicit" relation with his wife for the past three years.
"Veeresham and Narayana also fought over the matter previously. In the meanwhile, Veeresham's wife also left his house after lodging a harassment case against him.
Subsequently, Veeresham was suspended and he was recently re-instated in the service. However, he was posted under Narayana at the battalion premises," another police officer said.
The accused after a quarrel with Narayana today allegedly fired at him after the power went-off in the battalion premises, the police officer explained, adding, "After sustaining two-bullet shots, Narayana tried to escape but collapsed on the ground after being hit with another bullet."
