Nashik, Maharashtra:
About 400 kgs of mangoes worth Rs 16,000 were seized after being artificially ripened using calcium carbide in Nashik, Maharashtra, police said today.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday conducted a raid and seized the mango-stock being ripened using the chemical at Wadala-Naka by one Sumaiyya Sheikh Ibrahim (32), they said.
An offence has been registered against Ibrahim at Bhadrakali police station in this regard.
