Nashik, Maharashtra:
City (Central) MLA Vasant Geete was rounded up, along with scores of MNS activists, for staging a 'rasta roko' on the national highway in Nashik, Maharashtra in protest against collection of toll, police said.
Elsewhere in the district, police arrested a total of 140 activists for staging 'rasta roko' at various places, on the call given by their party president Raj Thackeray.
Police have registered seven offences against the activists at various places even though no violent incident was reported.
"No violence or any stone-pelting incident took place and the situation by and large remained peaceful," SP Praveen Padwal told reporters in Nashik.
In the city, Geete, along with MNS general secretary Atul Chandak, corporator Sujata Dere, were rounded up after they deflated tyres of vehicles on the Mumbai-Agra highway, which obstructed the flow of traffic, police said.
