The 15th National Youth Festival got off to a colourful start at Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday afternoon with youth delegates from across the country displaying glimpses of India's rich folk culture.
A 15,000-strong crowd thronged the venue to watch the show which also included a display of Akash Ganga by the Indian Air Force and Daredevils' stunts by the Indian Army.
The festival was inaugurated by Union Minister for Youth Affairs M S Gill, while his deputy P P Patil, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and actor Sunil Shetty attended the inaugural show.
Gori, the 34-year old white crocodile of Bhitar-Kanika sanctuary is the festival's mascot. The festival is being attended by about 5,000 delegates from 22 states and showcases the country's multi-faceted culture.
